RAW KIDS GYMNASTIC COACH & COORDINATOR

VACANCY DESCRIPTION:  PART TIME POSITION (up to 10 hours per week)

This role has been created to assist the RAW Kids Gymnastics Coaching team to provide gymnastics class coaching and general coordination support in relation to all RAW Kids gymnastics Portsmouth operations within The Box Portsmouth as well as its outreach activities. 

 

The role will predominantly involve gymnastics tuition to our young gymnasts aged 18 months to 7 years and will also involve a number of class operational assistance activities to ensure all sessions run smoothly and have the correct equipment/resources in place to a high standard.   

 

Main working hours will be Mon-Friday between 9am to midday.  The role will also need to support the remainder of the coaching team for coverage hours for our afterschool and weekend sessions.

 

DETAILS: 

The Box Portsmouth exists to realise human potential through physical activity in a fun, inclusive environment.  Through using fitness as a mechanism to unlock personal potential, build confidence and improve self-esteem and then to transfer these skills into other aspects of life.  It is so important to instil a love of sport and physical activity at an early age.  RAW Kids gymnastics as well as our other youth fitness activities provides a solid foundation to enable this to happen. 

 

This role will report directly to The Box Portsmouth General Manager.

 

DUTIES: 

Will include (but are not limited to): 

  • Teaching children the art of gymnastics in a fun and engaging way

  • Keeping kids safe and happy during classes

  • Creating a cool, fun atmosphere for the kids during class and other events such as birthday parties or school sessions

  • Setting up and maintaining equipment and facilities

  • Chatting with parents about their child’s progress and answering any questions

  • Ensuring the RAW rewards administration and RAW resources are up to date and available for the coaching team

  • Maintaining and deep cleaning the RAW Gymnastics equipment on a regular basis

  • Assistance with any marketing campaigns to grow RAW Kids outreach

  • Attendance at Coach development sessions and all staff meetings

  • Cooperating with all other staff and personnel at The Box Portsmouth

 

 

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION: 

 

Applicants must have the below skills, qualities & experience: 

 

  • a passion for working with children (particularly preschool to 7 years of age) 

  • an enthusiasm for fitness

  • a great attitude towards learning new skills

  • good communication and interpersonal skills

  • excellent organisational skills

  • able to work well as part of a team

  • self-motivated and able to identify and complete needed tasks without direct supervision or instruction

CROSSFIT LEVEL 1 COACH

CrossFit L1 Job Ad

VACANCY DESCRIPTION: 

PART TIME POSITION (2-5 hours per week)

The Box Portsmouth is seeking a Level 1 CrossFit Coach to provide coaching and training to assigned groups of clients using CrossFit methodologies, ensure safe practices are followed and facilitate client performance towards planned goals, injury-free.

This role will commence as soon as possible.  In particular we are looking for a Coach to support our lunchtime sessions (12:30-1:30pm).

DETAILS: 

The Box Portsmouth is a registered CrossFit affiliate and has been in operation for over 10 years. This role will report directly to The Head CrossFit Coach and General Manager.

 

DUTIES: 

Will include (but are not limited to): 

  • Execute opening & closing procedures

  • Follow CrossFit programming

  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness & organisation of the facility

  • Assist in facility & equipment maintenance

  • Implement group warm up protocols

  • Coordinate logistics to ensure efficient use of gym equipment and space during classes

  • Greet clients upon entering the facility

  • Lead and supervise group coaching sessions

  • Provide post training feedback and cues for improved athlete performance

  • Develop & maintain professional relationships with clients to enhance their gym experience

  • Calmly and competently respond to emergency situations

  • Participate and contribute towards staff meetings and staff education events

  • Actively engage in professional development and continued education

  • Promote and exemplify CrossFit principles

  • Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required

YFAP Job Ad

YOUTH FITNESS COACH & COORDINATOR

VACANCY DESCRIPTION​

 

PART TIME POSITION (5+ hours per week)

This role has been developed due to our facility wishing to enhance & grow current activities provided within our youth & teens department. 

 

With an expanding number of children & young adults to the facility and an increase in class popularity the position will form an integral part of our team.  Thus ensuring that this membership sector is well managed, enhanced, developed and expanded upon.  Immediate start.

The Box Portsmouth is an elite venue providing specialist facilities for CrossFit (all ages), pre-school gymnastics and dance/fitness enthusiasts.  We have undertaken operations within our current facility space since 2013 at 235 Commercial Road, Portsmouth. PO1 4BJ.  We provide fitness activities to over 250 members and visitors every week. 

 

This role will report directly to the facility’s General Manager.

 

Will include (but are not limited to): 

  • Overseeing current activities within the youth (kids & teens) department including CrossFit Kids, Teens Weightlifting, our Youth Fitness Awards and Sports Leadership Programmes

  •  Assisting GM in planning curriculum, coordinating and promoting all youth fitness activities

  • Working hands-on (i.e coaching) in programs, activities and special events as needed

  • Providing quality customer service to members, volunteers, participants and parents/guardians

  • Performing administrative duties which support the youth fitness programs & activities

  • Assisting with the implementation and delivery of department trainings & meeting coordination 

  • In absence of GM, provide work direction to other coaches, sports leaders and oversee weekly operations

  • Follow all health & safety regulations & provides a safe, fun & positive environment within the youth fitness department 

  • Cooperate with rest of The Box Portsmouth staff & trainers

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

 

Applicants must have the below skills, qualities & experience: 

 

  • minimum of one year of experience working with & instructing youth fitness

  • CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, REPS Level 3 Personal Trainer or Level 2 Fitness Instructor, CrossFit Kids or equivalent youth/teens trainer qualification

  • have experience in youth fitness class programming

  • must have sound knowledge of weightlifting movements (olympic & powerlifting) 

  • excellent communication & organisational skills and able to work as a team

  • demonstrate ability to be a good role model to the youth fitness participants 

  • be self-motivated and able to identify and complete needed tasks without direct supervision or instruction

  • first aid qualified & DBS certified

  • demonstrate ability to work with diverse populations

  • able to perform a variety of physical activities with program participants

 

We offer a £20 per hour coaching rate and a £13 per hour administration rate. We require the candidate to be fully available to undertake our set class coaching hours of:  Wednesday 4:30-5:15pm; Friday 4:30-5:30 (when cover is required); Saturday 8:00-11:00am).  It is expected that the Youth Fitness Coordinator will steadily increase working hours in the department through the growth & expansion of new department activities.
