About George

Since his late teens, George has taken part in many different recreational sports, including basketball, gymnastics, skating, break dancing, martial arts, rock climbing, mountaineering and hiking. He took up distance running in his late twenties and completed a number of races including a high altitude marathon of 2800 metres in the Andean mountains of Ecuador.
Though he had always been active, George never settled on one sport, but when he found CrossFit in 2011, he fell in love with the variety, the challenge and the community.
CrossFit became the best part of his day, and he hasn't looked back since. George completed his CF-L1 in 2018 during the final year of his PhD in International Development and Anthropology and began coaching soon after.
For George, CrossFit and especially CrossFit Portsea Island, has been an escape from all the stresses of work and life and he sees it as somewhere to set achievable, measurable and valuable goals. He became a trainer to help provide that for more people and to share the experiences with them.
