After completing his Media degree, Craig felt that his career was heading in the wrong direction and felt that he would be more suited in the fitness industry.
During University, unlike most people out drinking every night (Craig did a little bit of drinking). He was in the gym doing legs, back and arms. This helped him lose 30kg of weight but he still wanted more.
He thought he was in good shape until he saw something called CrossFit on YouTube. He decided to give it a go and after the first WOD was hooked. Craig was doing spilt jerks in the squat rack of a global gym getting funny looks from everyone.
There’s only so long you can do CrossFit in a global gym before you need a proper community and CrossFit setup, so that’s why CrossFit Portsea Island was opened. Everyone who trained with us moved to CrossFit Portsea Island and Craig has been working there from the start improving his coaching skills and getting better as an athlete himself.
Craig's always been involved in sport, from football to cricket. He play cricket at a high level for Purbrook and still loves the game.
Craig has been a personal trainer with CrossFit Portsea Island since 2013. Alongside this role Craig has undertaken a number of fitness positions to provide him with an incredible all around knowledge of fitness and management. His latest role involves being a Physical Activity Coordinator at Bidbury Junior School where he teaches children from 7 to 11 years of age.
Nothing gives Craig more pleasure than athletes losing weight, hitting PR’s or/and getting their first muscle up. This is what keeps us improving and developing our skills.
