Something we hear a lot, our best answer for any of you with the same question is “Come in and find out”
Come to CrossFit Portsea Island, Portsmouth, UK, your first session will be free and we will show you the great loving community and get you to experience and more importantly ‘Feel’ what CrossFit is.
In words CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program designed to train the most elite athlete as well as any beginner through scalability.
This makes CrossFit a great way to train anyone with a career in the forces who needs the ability to perform optimally without notice as well as your nan who maybe just looking to lower her blood pressure slightly.
CrossFit defines itself as ‘constantly varied, functional movements performed at high intensity’
Breaking this down:
Constantly Varied: Always changing the workouts, never letting your body adapt. This is why CrossFit is great for getting results. Your body never gets used to anything so you never reach those plateaus. Also helping to keep training fun and exciting keeping the mind stimulated and avoiding the boredom of repetitiveness.
Functional Movements: These are movements we are built to perform. Movements that mimic everyday life. When picking up a box from the floor you may not realise but you are performing a deadlift. These movements are important for us to train for health and longevity. They are multi-joint (compound movements) that build and grow motor skills/neurological adaptations to perform movements from core to extremity and build overall greater control and awareness of you and your body.
High Intensity: Intensity is how much weight you can move over the longest distance in the shortest amount of time also known as power. Power and intensity are measurable which will help you to plot and measure goals and fitness targets. Most importantly intensity and power are synonymous with results which is what we all train for. Your results will only come from high intensity and giving your all!
